A toilet that keeps running, or one that won’t flush properly, is one of those jobs that can wait a few days until it suddenly can’t. When it becomes your only working loo, it needs sorting the same day. Greg repairs and replaces toilets across the Costa del Sol from Calahonda, and he keeps the common parts in the van.

Is your toilet running or not flushing?

Send a photo or a short video of what it’s doing on WhatsApp, and we’ll tell you what’s likely wrong within about ten minutes. A running toilet is usually a fill valve or a flush valve that has worn. One that won’t flush fully is often a worn siphon or a blocked rim jet.

Is it better to repair or replace a toilet?

We’ll tell you straight. A worn valve or a failed flush mechanism is usually a repair. A cracked pan or a cistern that has seen better days is usually a replacement, and there’s no sense paying to patch something that will fail again. When a repair isn’t worth your money, we say so and give you a price for a new one instead.

Why does a running toilet cost you money?

A running cistern keeps filling, and that water has to go somewhere. Over a week it can add up on the bill, which is why a running toilet is worth fixing sooner rather than later. The fix is usually a small part and a quick job, and the alternative is a slow drip of wasted water month after month.

Why does a toilet run, or refuse to flush?

Inside the cistern there are only a few moving parts, and two of them do most of the work. The fill valve lets water in and shuts it off at the right level. The flush valve holds it back and releases it when you press. When either one wears, the toilet runs, refills on its own, or flushes weakly. These are quick parts to swap, which is why we carry the common ones rather than ordering them in.

A toilet that won’t flush fully is usually a worn siphon or blocked rim jets. A short video of what the flush is doing tells us which, and we can usually give you a price before we travel.

What toilet problems do you fix?

  • A toilet that runs or refills on its own
  • A toilet that won’t flush, or flushes weakly
  • A cistern that overfills or won’t fill
  • Loose or rocking pans
  • A pan that sweats or a seat that won’t stay put
  • Sticking or broken flush buttons and handles

Do you install new toilets?

Yes. A new toilet is straightforward plumbing, but it needs the pan seated level, the cistern sealed, and the water supply connected without a leak. We’ll do that properly and check it before we leave. If you’re replacing an old suite or fitting one in a renovated bathroom, we’ll connect the pan, the cistern and the water supply properly, and check for leaks before we leave. We fit the common makes, Roca among the brands we use for bathrooms. Every job is backed by a one-year warranty on our work.

How much does it cost to repair a toilet?

It depends on the fault. A fill valve or a flush cartridge is a smaller job than a new pan, which is why we ask for a photo first so the price we give you is real. For a full rundown of what we charge, see our pricing page.
